Standardization of Acid Chloride 0.5 N
Weigh carefully the 750 mg Sodium Carbonate Anhydrous previously been heated at a temperature of 270 degrees Celsius for 1 hour. Sodium Carbonate was dissolved with 50 ml of water and add 2-3 drops of Methyl Red indicator. Add slowly the solution with the acid chloride (titration) while shaken until the pink solution is concentrated. Heat until boiling solution. Continue titration longer pink when lost. Stop the titration when the color does not change.
Formula:
Normality HCl = 2 X mg Na2CO3 : (
Mr Na2Co3 X ml HCl )
NOTE :- Mr Na2CO3 = 106
- mg Na2CO3 = a weighed amount of sodium carbonate
- ml HCl = amount of hydrochloric acid used for titration
